About Overland Command
As a former Naval Officer, Randell Beck (The Commander) brings a unique perspective to the design of a camper.
Naval engineering approaches permeate the designs. Every piece of the trailer reinforces the others, in the same way as the hull, bulkheads, and keel of a ship work together.
A lifelong outdoorsman, the Commander enjoys overlanding, shooting sports, and climbing. The trailers we build are designed to enhance the outdoors experience, providing mobile shelter, warmth, and mission capability in a rugged ultralight package. After seeing some attractive, home-built teardrops designed for off road use, the Commander developed a trailer design in a sketchbook, and began to plan how to execute a better approach offering light weight, rugged construction, configurability, and mobility.
That was the moment that everything came together… the mountain sky, the travel, the gear, the technique… all wrapped up in a commitment to excellence of design and the romance of travel.
The Overland Command trailer is the practical result of a lifetime spent in the outdoors. The Commander is an experienced backpacker and traveler whose CV includes:
Lifelong trailer camper,
Experienced offroader/overlander
Climber with a first ascent (the cliffs on Paisano Peak),
Championship shotgunner at several levels, including winning the 2019 World Side-bySide Championship in the 10 gauge hammer division.
Enough about us. Let’s work together on your camper!
